Rudy's Tavern

East Stroudsburg's Oldest and Most Beloved Bar

Since the early 1900s, Rudy's Tavern has been a mainstay in the community of East Stroudsburg, PA. With its classic arcade games, dark wood walls, and checkered tile floors, Rudy's is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the comforts of a neighborhood bar. It's no wonder that Rudy's Tavern has been the go-to spot for locals for almost a century.

Rudy Manheim, the founder of Rudy's Tavern, poured the bar's first beer and was awarded one of Monroe County's first liquor licenses when prohibition ended in 1933. Rudy's has been a fixture in the community ever since, providing a place for friends and family to gather and enjoy good food, good beer, and good entertainment at an affordable price.

When Rudy passed away in 1981, he left the bar to one of his bartenders, Denny Deardorff, who locally attended East Stroudsburg University and joined the Marine Corps to fight in Vietnam. Unfortunately, Denny passed away in 2015, but was able to keep the bar in the family, which is now owned and operated by his daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Joe "Giggy" Quaresimo. When you visit be sure to take a look at a trophy case always on display, filled with Marine Corps memorabilia from Denny and other customers.

The menu here is perfect for a local bar including a variety of your favorites in food, snacks, and of course beer. When it comes to a meal you can't go wrong with local classics like their pork roll sandwich, cheese steak, 12" pizza, or ham and cheese sandwich! If you really worked up an appetite we recommend their award-winning "SUPER" hot dog filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon. For sides, they offer plenty of snacks, chips, and nuts often from local brands such as Martin's in Thomasville, PA. 

What is a tavern without beer? Luckily, Rudy's offers a wide range of draft and bottled selections.

The draft beer selection allows pitchers as well as single glasses and includes favorites such as Guinness, Yuengling, Miller Lite, and Pabst. Their bottled beer selection has even more. Including over 30 types of bottled beverages, anyone is sure to find something to their liking! From classics like Coors Light and Sam Adams to new seltzers such as White Claw and Smirnoff Ice they've got everyone covered! Ended up bringing some wine drinkers as well? No worries, as they have a great wine selection including Sycamore Lane Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's clear this tavern prioritizes being an establishment for everyone in the community and having a selection the locals are familiar with and truly enjoy.

At Rudy's Tavern, they take pride in being a true community bar. Not only does this establishment focus on bringing life and entertainment to the community but enjoys giving back as well. By participating in local events to sponsoring coat drives, toy drives, and other charitable efforts this establishment continues to show its support for the community. Overall Rudy's Tavern is a great stop on your trip through the Poconos. Bringing the local hometown feel of the area into four walls that truly make visitors feel at home. The live music and easy food and drinks make this the perfect place to get together with friends or family and get time to sit and enjoy the moment together. With its rich history and long-time dedication to its community Rudy's Tavern is a neighborhood bar that can't be skipped.
